About You

We work with people just like you: composers, writers, actors, songwriters, singers, disruptors, directors, producers, managers, agents, creative executives and more.

The artist’s life looks so shiny from the outside.

But scratch the surface just a bit and we see that the day-to-day life of most artists is marked by rollercoaster highs (awards, press and acclaim) and all-too-frequent lows (insecurity, creative lulls, loneliness). In short, the artist’s life is not always wine and roses.

It’s during the down times, these vulnerable adjustment times, that you can be unwittingly hijacked by anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, stage fright/performance anxiety, creative blocks, imposter syndrome and more.

Being a creative can be mentally and emotionally exhausting for even the strongest among us. You are not alone. We’ve been there, and we understand. ArtistServices has the experience, strategies and interventions specifically aimed at supporting and reinvigorating creative spirits, getting you back to your joy, passion and resilience.

Christy Merriner, LMFT

Christy Merriner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Los Angeles, CA. Christy felt called to become a therapist after spending 15 years in the music business as an artist manager and record label professional. Christy’s music career started at 13 when she bought a used Fender Telecaster. After playing in mediocre punk bands and working for three years as an indie record store clerk (think High Fidelity meets Empire Records), Christy landed her first label job at 19 as a Sony Music College Marketing Rep in Washington, DC. A year later, she moved to New York City to work for Warner Bros. Records and later, Sire Records before transitioning to artist management. Christy has toured with MGMT, Kings of Leon, Citizen Cope, The Drums, Robert Randolph, and others on international and domestic tours.

Christy’s approach as a therapist is solution-focused, reality-based, psychodynamic, and often blends coaching and therapy. Christy utilizes attachment theory, depth psychology, mindfulness, and coaching modalities to help her clients attain insight and breakthroughs. Christy believes that therapy is a collaborative process that requires both therapist and client to engage in the process of inquiry, discovery, and transformation. Christy enjoys working with passionate and creative individuals from all industries and she finds that many of her clients, in addition to being highly creative, are also spiritual seekers, wellness practitioners, and those yearning for deeper meaning in their daily lives.
